Taif University to complete SAR1.5bn first phase in 2014

By Mona Ibrahim The Saudi ministry of higher education will complete the first phase of Taif University in 2014 and the second phase in 2017, at a total cost of USD 1.46 billion encompassing nine separate projects, a senior official told Zawya.

The first phase costs SAR 1.5 billion (USD 400 million) and the second SAR 2.5 billion (USD 1.06 billion), Ahmed El Ghamday, head of communications, said. Phase one includes University City in the suburb of Taif, on 17 million square meters. The first phase of the University City project is complete, El Ghamday said.

The University Hospital, at a cost of SAR 475 million, will also be built in the first phase. Other projects include construction of the university headquarters in the northeast of the governorate at a cost of SAR 484 million, including different specialties colleges, fences, gates and internal and external road networks.
Construction of the Faculty of Medicine will cost SAR 139 million and student housing will be built at a cost of SAR 287 million, El Ghamday said.

The Faculty of Engineering in University City will be built at a cost of SAR 94 million, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at SAR 80 million, faculty housing at SAR 400 million, the medicine and pharmacy college at SAR 9.37 million, and the Faculty of Science at a cost of SAR 12.3 million, El Ghamday said.
