AMMAN -- The National Steering Committee on Pay Equity (NSCPE) in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) is scheduled next week to launch a study on the gender pay gap in Jordan's private schools and universities, according to an ILO statement.

The study will also include a review of the legal amendments needed to tackle wage inequity in Jordan.

Experts at the launching ceremony, which will take place at the Landmark Hotel in Amman, will present in-depth data and solutions on how to bridge the gender pay gap to attract more women to the labour force, the statement said.

The NSCPE was launched in 2011 by the Ministry of Labour, the Jordanian National Commission for Women and the ILO to promote the principle of equal pay for work of equal value in Jordan and to develop and implement an action plan for pay equity.
