MUSCAT - Standard Chartered recently held a Trade Finance Seminar for Oman Cables Industry (SAOG) to update and train their Finance, Sales & Marketing, Purchase and Supply Chain staff on Trade Finance instruments and the products and solutions offered by the Bank. The event was attended by over 40 staff members from the company. Mr Hussain Salman Al Lawati, Managing Director of Oman Cables inaugurated the event. Also present in the workshop were senior management from Oman Cables, Louis Dupreez, General Manager -- Sales & Marketing Jehangir Pardiwalla, Assistant General Manager -- Finance and Ahmed Farooqui, General Manager - PSC. Standard Chartered was represented by Haroon Zafar, Head of Wholesale Banking. The Trade Finance seminar was conducted by Scott Meyern Head, Trade Services and Lending and Naveed Khursheed, Director, Trade and CTA Product Management, Dubai, UAE.
The seminar focused on providing an update to the participants on the latest trade finance trends and products as well as an update on the UCP 600 and Inco-terms. The participants were also informed of how Standard Chartered was the right partner for Oman Cables to meet their trade finance requirements.
Commenting on the workshop, Hussain Salman Al Lawati, Managing Director of Oman Cables said: "It is important that the participants get the maximum benefit of the seminar in order to improve their trade knowledge and the way they go about their daily activities. This was a good opportunity for the participants to get clarity on any trade related matters as well as share their practical experience since Oman Cables is a global player in selling Electrical Power Cables in a number of countries around the world."
