To add new wing spread over 3,607 sq m, including a dedicated food court, department store and the children's entertainment centre Magic Island

Manama, Bahrain, May 23, 2010: Seef Properties has announced a major expansion of one of Bahrain's first modern malls - Isa Town Mall. The plan includes construction of a new wing which will feature a dedicated food court, a key department store and Magic Island, one of the Kingdom's largest indoor family entertainment and recreation facility. The new building will be spread over 3,607 square metres and will cost an estimated BD 2.5 million to develop and construct.

Speaking about the expansion plans, Mr. Fawaz M Matar, CEO, Seef Properties said, "As one of Bahrain's first modern malls, Isa Town Mall has played a significant role in developing the retail sector and spreading the mall culture in retailing in the Kingdom. At the same time, it has retained an ambience that reflects the traditional culture and heritage of our country. That's why we see it as an important icon of the Bahraini identity as well as the Kingdom's thrust into modernity and we look forward to consolidating this role through the new expansion."

"The new wing will complement the mall's already diversified retailer mix, serving as a platform to add to the shopping and dining options with several new global retail brands, including leading fashion outlets, as well as new cafés, restaurants and other F&B outlets. The investment marks our continuing commitment to the local community and its needs and we are confident that the vibrant combination of value-added quality stores and a full-fledged entertainment facility will reinforce Isa Town Mall's position as the premium retail-shopping destination in the area," he added.

The new amenities, state-of-the art technology and family-friendly features of the new wing will enhance the overall shopping experience. The department store is located on the ground floor while the food court and Magic Island, are positioned on the first floor. Sporting post-modern elements in its design, the new wing has a separate entrance but can also be accessed from inside the mall.

The project manager and architect of the new wing is Mazen Al Umran Consulting Engineers, while the interiors are being designed by Mohammed Salahuddin Consulting Engineering Bureau and the contractor for the expansion is Abdul Rahman Al Mansoori Contracting.

Isa Town Mall was launched in 1993 in the strategic location at the centre of Isa Town's commercial district, next to Isa Town's main gate.  It has three sections - main, west and east, the main building containing 42 units; the west wing 36 units and the east wing 36 units. Some of its major stores are Charles & Keith, Hush Puppies, Adams, A II Z, Hang Ten, Indigo Nation, Syed Junaid Alam, Body Shop, Zain among others.

Islamic in design and surrounded by green areas, footpaths and ample car parking, the mall is fully equipped to provide the shopping needs of the entire family and the new wing will seek to fulfill the dining and entertainment needs as well. The Mall also has public, commercial and government services.
