JEDDAH: Saudi Aramco on Wednesday began supplying 15 million cubic meters of gas daily to the industrial city of Yanbu through a pipeline for the benefit of light industries.
The Saudi oil giant organized a ceremony to mark the occasion, which was attended by top officials including Ala Abdullah Naseef, CEO of the Royal Commission for Yanbu, and executives of companies.
Hamoud Al-Otaibi, deputy director of Aramco affairs in Yanbu, briefed the participants on the gas pipeline, saying it would benefit light industries.
"We hope it would encourage the establishment of new industrial plants in the city," Al-Otaibi said.
Addressing the ceremony, Naseef thanked all those who worked to implement the gas pipeline project. "It comes in line with the cooperation between Saudi Aramco and the Royal Commission," he said.
The project includes a gas distribution network in the light industries region of the industrial city, with a length of nine kilometers.
It has the capacity to accommodate 55 million cubic meters of gas daily. Marafiq utility company will operate the project and provide internal gas connections to industries benefiting from the pipeline.
