Mohammed H. Arkobi is one of those people, driving results through collaboration, partnerships, and relationships as a prominent hotelier in this industry. For this dedicated professionalism he has won a new achievement in the hospitality industry, the title of being the World's Leading Hotelier of 2011.
In a glittering ceremony held at Doha, Qatar Mr. Mohammed Hassan Arkobi, Vice President and Managing Director of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International Makkah, leading a team of 5000 employees in Saudi Arabia was awarded the prestigious title of the best hotelier in the world. In addition to this earlier he was ranked 22 last year in 2011 on the Hotelier Middle East Power 50 List. At Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, Makkah Saudi Arabia Arkobi manages the three hotels; Makkah Clock Royal Tower- A Fairmont Hotel crowned as the best landmark hotel in the world, Raffles Makkah Palace awarded as the best all suite hotel and Swissotel Makkah that will be open soon.
Commenting on this momentous occasion Mr. Arkobi said "it is an honor for me to achieve this which is a result of endless efforts of our colleagues, hence this puts us forth for yet another challenge to enhance the level of our services and I thank World Travel Awards and the entire committee working on it for acknowledging me with such a reputable award in the world of Hospitality industry.
Mr. Arkobi Joined Fairmont Raffles Hotels International in 2007 as General manager before being positioned as Vice President and Managing Director, where he is working deeply in developing a unique collection of hospitality services that are offered by Fairmont Raffles Hotels International in Makkah working to make Makkah a distinguished hospitality sector globally. A knowledgeable professional, Arkobi, holds a Diploma of Hospitality Management degree from American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute in the United States of America, and a degree of Business Administration Diploma from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Before joining Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, Makkah Saudi Arabia, Arkobi served as the Area General Manager of the Madinah Inter-Continental Hotel and the General Manager of Dar Al Hijra InterContinental Madinah. Prior to the said positions, Mr. Arkobi held a number of key positions within Dar Al Hijra InterContinental Madinah. He was Hotel Manager, Resident Manager and Executive Asst. Manager, In-Charge of Operations.
Working closely with FHRI's portfolio of world-class hotels & Resorts, Arkobi plays an instrumental role in the day-to-day operations of company's Green Partnership program and its application in Saudi Arabia. Mohammed Arkobi continues to seek out new ways to proactively enhance the 'green' activities of the company's operations, dedicating himself to advance the brand's pioneering efforts on a sustainable tourism basis.
In addition to that, Mr. Arkobi is an honorary member in both AIT (Alliance Internationale de Tourism) and FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile), Executive member of Gulf Marketing Association, Kingdom of Bahrain, a member of AIT / FIA Customs Committee, a member of AIT / FIA Open Air Committee and AIT / FIA Marketing Committee General Secretary from 1995 to 1996.
