On May 10th, 2011 Samsung Saudi Arabia (SSA) celebrated the opening of the new engineering complex, "Samsung Naffora Techno Valley," (SNTV) with the presence of His Highness Prince Jalawi ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Musa'ad Al Saud, the Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province, His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thunayan Al-Saud, Chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Samsung Engineering President & CEO Park Ki-Seok and other key business partners and government officials.
Located in the heart of Jubail Industrial City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the multi-purpose and state-of-the-art engineering center was funded, developed and constructed by SSA, with a total investment of over $100 million USD with the extended support of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu.
Samsung Naffora Techno Valley has been established to develop a close relationship with business partners and the local community in Saudi Arabia, which is one of the most important markets for Samsung Engineering for the last decade.
One of the main goals for the engineering complex will be for recruitment, education and training for Saudi engineers. Samsung Naffora Techno Valley also offers dormitories, dining facilities and a sports center with various amenities such as basketball courts, a swimming pool and bowling alleys. In addition, the Safety Training Center will be utilized to teach employees world-class safety standards through various safety simulations such as steel erection safety.
Currently, SSA has 180 Saudi employees, which consists of 20% of the company's workforce in the Kingdom. Samsung is continuously increasing local recruitment, with active involvement in career fairs at Saudi Arabia's top universities such as King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.
Speaking at the official opening Samsung Engineering President & CEO Park Ki-Seok said, "We are delighted to open Samsung Naffora Techno Valley, which we hope will serve as an engineering complex and a multi-purpose community center which includes training center and sports facilities. We are very appreciative of the interest and support of our contributions to the community and hope that with our future programs, we can make a lasting impact in this region."
Mr. Ki-Seok added that, "We extend our gratitude to the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu for their continued support for the various corporations and facilitating their strong existence in the region to reach their objectives which serve in the best interest of the Kingdom's economy."
At the end of the gala dinner, Samsung Engineering announced that today the company has granted its Saudi employees the same two month salary bonuses in support of government initiatives and to celebrate the opening of SNTV.
Since entering the Kingdom in 1999, Samsung Engineering has executed 24 Hydrocarbon and Industrial plants amounting to over $10 billion USD. The company's reputation has improved greatly over the past decade after demonstrating excellent project execution, on-time and safe delivery of plants at a competitive cost.
