Royal Caribbean International's Voyager of the Seas one of the largest cruise ships ever to dock in Dubai
Dubai, 15th May 2012: Royal Caribbean International's Voyager of the Seas arrived at Port Rashid for the first time Tuesday morning 15th May, 2012. At a length of 311 meters, if you turned the ship 90 degrees it would be almost the same height as Burj Al Arab. She can carry up to 3,114 guests and 1,185 crew, has a total of 15 passenger decks and a gross tonnage of 138,000 tons.
Voyager of the Seas is one of the biggest cruise ships to dock in Dubai and the first among a class of ships that revolutionised the cruise industry by introducing the active cruise vacation, debuting the first onboard ice-skating rink and rock-climbing wall. Another stunning feature is the Royal Promenade, an interior boulevard that runs nearly the ship's length; flanked by restaurants, lounges and boutiques and where lively parades and evening street parties are held. This area is the heart of the ship for evening activity, along with the three-story high 'La Scala' theatre in which some of the latest production technology is used to produce Broadway-standard shows at night.
Onboard offerings include the VitalitySM Spa with 100+ treatments such as medi-spa treatments and acupuncture, four pools including the Solarium, six whirlpools, a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, with classes including yoga and tai chi. Numerous dining options include the Windjammer Café, Jade Sushi and Asian-fusion cuisine, Café Promenade for coffee and pastries/snacks, Portofino Italian restaurant and casual dining and snacks at Johnny Rockets and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream.
The ship will operate summer departures out of Singapore and Shanghai in 2012 with a series of 4 to 7 night cruises to different exotic Southeast Asian, Japanese and Korean destinations. Thereafter, the ship will sail via Singapore to Australia making Sydney her new home and visiting ports around Australia and New Zealand.
The revitalisation and enhancement of numerous cruise ships reflect the Royal Advantage on board Royal Caribbean International ships. This $300 million revitalisation will allow most of its Vision, Voyager and Radiance class vessels to get a series of upgrades. Royal Caribbean International enhanced five ships in 2011 and will revitalise another 10 ships until 2014 which will help expand some of the most popular innovations on select ships. This will provide the best experiences, destinations and personalised services to more guests than ever before. The revitalizations will offer guests a greater variety of new onboard dining and entertainment options, high-speed Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations, and many more amenities, to deliver even more of the "WOW" experience aboard all Royal Caribbean ships sailing worldwide.
