10 Smart cities projects already underway

The Qatari government driven by its Vision 2030 plan, has committed over US$140 billion for investment, infrastructure and expansion in a wide range of sectors, including energy, health, education, transport, infrastructure and tourism.

The government recently announced a US$125bn spending plan for construction and energy projects. This includes spending for the 2022 World Cup - an estimated US$80-100bn of investment in preparation for the tournament - including commercial projects and transport infrastructure. Qatar is planning to invest over $25 billion to develop its national and international rail network by 2026.

The Arab Future Cities Summit is an international gathering of city leaders, government officials, city developers, urban service providers and smart city solution providers to share strategies, insights and best practices to implement a smart and sustainable future for the cities of tomorrow. It gives a direction in urban planning and development with an emphasis on effective utilization of resources.
