BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--State-run Qatar Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell said they have sold the first commercial shipment of base oil from their joint Pearl gas-to-liquids, or GTL, plant--the country's largest energy project, Doha-based Asharq daily reports Thursday.
This shipment was manufactured at the plant's first production line while work at the second production line is expected to start before year end, the paper reports, adding that output at the two lines will be increased until the plant reaches full production capacity by mid-2012.
Asharq cites Peter Voser, chief executive of Royal Dutch Shell, as saying that this shipment is a new step in the strong partnership with Qatar Petroleum to set up the world's largest gas-to-liquids plant.
