HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation -Global (Registered in Lebanon) and vice chaired by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, received recently HE Mr. Shigeru Endo, Japanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and an accompanying delegation from Japan's Earthquake victims that included Mr. Mitsuru Murase, Counselor Japanese Embassy, Ms. Shiharu Kumatsu, Mr. Masafumi Yamautchi, Ms. Fumika Yamautchi, Mr. Kauru Sheba and Mr. Shuetche Shega. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Heba Fatani, Senior Executive Manager, Corporate Communications Department and Dr. Nahla Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman.

The meeting began as the Ambassador and the accompanying delegation thanked Prince Alwaleed for giving them the opportunity to meet with him. During the meeting, the delegation also thanked His Highness for the donation to Japan's Earthquake victims through Alwaleed Foundation. during the meeting the two discussed various issues on the economic and social fronts.

The Alwaleed Foundation received a certificate of appreciation from the Ambassador of Japan during the solemn memorial ceremony on March 11 of this year. Photos showing Japan's efforts for recovery and reconstruction were displayed in addition to featuring Alwaleed Foundation's donation. The 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit the north-east coast of Japan, triggering a massive tsunami on 11th of March 2011 with waves up to 38m high. The allocation and distribution of the donation to those in need was in coordination with the Japanese Red Cross, and with the Japanese Embassy with the supervision of Ms. Halla Angawi, Executive Manager of International Projects Department in the Foundation. The Japanese Red Cross' vision, as a member of the IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies), is to inspire, encourage, facilitate and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities, with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering, and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world. As part of the Japanese Red Cross relief operation, more than 125,000 blankets, 183,000 pieces of clothing, 26,000 emergency relief kits and 11,000 sleeping kits have been handed out to evacuees.

In some places, the construction of pre-fabricated shelters has been completed. The Government is building some 70,000 shelters. Japanese Red Cross worked with local administrations to provide each of these houses with a package of appliances. This included refrigerators, washing machines, cooking utensils.

HRH's philanthropic grants and donations over 70 countries ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe; from Gaza to The Gambia, totaling more than $3 billion over the last 30 years. HRH has established three Foundations to handle his philanthropic activities across the globe under the slogan "Commitment Without Boundaries": Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation in Saudi Arabia, Alwaleed Bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation in Lebanon, and Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global registered in Lebanon. His foundations work locally, regionally and internationally to combat poverty, strengthen interfaith and intercultural dialogue and empower women and youth.

Prince Alwaleed's investment in Japan through Kingdom Holding Company that is chaired by His Highness include the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so, Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi, Swissotel Nankai Osaka, Citigroup (31 offices), Tokyo Disneyland, and News Corporation. The Prince's last visit to Japan was in 2007.
