PASADENA, CA: Parsons is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the Sultanate of Oman's Ministry of Transport & Communications' Directorate General of Roads and Land Transport to provide design and construction supervision services for the dualization of the Nizwa-Thumrait road. Following the completion of this project, the link between Oman's capital city of Muscat and the southern city of Salalah will be fully dualized along its 1,000-km+ length.

Parsons' scope of work includes alignment study and finalization, traffic study and analysis, preliminary and detailed design (on a fast-track schedule), tender documents, and construction supervision. The project involves the conversion to a 4-lane dual carriageway from the existing 715-km-long single carriageway between the towns of Adam and Thumrait, and it includes several intermittent grade-separated interchanges, cross-drainage structures, camel crossings, and rest/service areas and weigh stations at intermittent locations.

"Parsons has been involved in numerous road projects in the Sultanate of Oman, and we look forward to supporting the Sultanate in delivering this important upgrade," said Guy Mehula, Parsons MENA+ President. "The Nizwa-Thumrait road project will help improve transportation between the southern and northern parts of the region by upgrading the existing infrastructure to a modern road network."
