Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) recently signed a memorandum of understanding last Sunday to fund IT and English language training for at least 20 people in the wilayat of Maqshan. The training is part of its social investment drive and in continuation of last year's training schemes held in several small towns and villages.

The programme will be held in Shaleem, Muhut, Salalah, Al Jazir and at Hamra Addurua in Ibri.

Commending PDO's investment in the community, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Hamar, wali of Maqshan, said, "The training will equip locals with vital skills, enabling them to find meaningful employment and earn a living."

The company signed another MoU to construct a camel race track in Shaleem. Both the agreements were signed at the Directorate General of State Affairs in Dhofar between H E Hamar and Suleiman al Mantheri, PDO's external affairs and communications manager.

"PDO's support is hugely appreciated as both schemes will make a real difference to people's lives in Maqshan," said H E Hamar.

On PDO's enhanced social contribution, Mantheri said, "We aim to help the low income families or the unemployed to help themselves by providing structured vocational training to enter the workforce."
