PALME LED Vertical Up 27% As Industry Turns a 'Green' Eye on The Future
Increase in LED lighting suppliers at show mirrors sector growth area as industry looks toward sustainable lighting solutions

The inflow of infrastructure investments into the region due to an increasing population, and upcoming events such as the Dubai EXPO 2020 is said to be creating opportunities for the LED lighting market.

The twelfth edition of PALME Middle East, which takes place from 15-17 April at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, has witnessed a 27% increase in exhibitors from the LED lighting industry compared to 2013.

"Growth in this specific show vertical is not surprising. Several Middle Eastern countries have already banned incandescent light bulbs due to their inefficiency, which opens the door for a growing interest in LED lights. Also, a number of GCC countries are looking to reduce their carbon footprint, and with events such as the EXPO 2020 and 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, there has been greater demand for LED lighting in the region as a sustainable solution." said Richard Brook, Exhibition Director for PALME Middle East.

Echoing this, Farid Dagher, Managing Director of PROLAB Middle East sees LED technology as a future trend, and something the industry should seriously consider integrating more in to their services "In general, LED's have a very low environmental footprint, and we hope that in the future they will be used in more products and services that can help the environment, and reduce our environmental footprint as an industry."

This has attracted a number of first time exhibitors. Phillips Entertainment, the professional lighting arm of Phillips will be showcasing their range of lighting solutions called Showline. New comers American DJ will also be present this year, and will be promoting a wide variety of professional lighting and audio solutions.

The show is also set to introduce a new approach to its educational platform, and will be running a number of seminar sessions tailored to the production of live events as well as sound and lighting for different venues.

The first day's sessions will be focused on the event production industry, and will cover how to meet expectations of an international specification with local availabilities, whereas day two will focus on event venues and the choices made regarding sound, lighting, and control systems for the benefit of both guests and staff.

"Among the industry experts participating is Lee Charteris, Vice President of Operations at Flash Entertainment, who will be delivering a session on meeting the expectations of an international event, with the locally available suppliers.

Another of our featured speakers is Phil Grucci, the man behind the Palm Jumeirah world record firework display. He is going to explain exactly how he managed to pull off one of the most extravagant fireworks display the world has ever seen." added Brook.
