Under his Majesty's 2040 vision, upcoming new projects in most sectors will open doors to new employment opportunities for Nationals. Participating at the Omanisation Career Fair (OCF) from 20-22 April 2015 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre from 9:30am-1:00pm & 4:30pm-9:00pm, Ooredoo, TeO& MHD LLC discuss their Omanisation initiatives, the employment scene in Oman and scope for visitors at OCF 2015.

Omanisation Initiative & employment

Ooredoo prioritises the development of local talent and has already undertaken a competency based assessment of their resources. With individual development plans in place, Ooredoo continuously invests in competency enhancement programmes.  "Our Omanisation programme is reported to, reviewed and monitored by our board members on a monthly basis.  We have seen a positive growth in the telecoms sector and are, to a large extent, able to meet our Omanisaiton aspirations. We see an improvement in the skill levels of nationals and this significantly contributes to improving industry related skills across Oman" inputs Ms. Salma Al-Harthy, Department Head - People Resourcing, Ooredoo.

TeO has set their target Omanization ratio at 90%, aiming to reach this ratio by acquiring Omani talent. "As a new-comer to the Telecom industry, we are currently building awareness among Omanis, forging strategic partnerships with universities & technical colleges and participating in career fairs like OCF" explains Mr. Gurkan Ozturk, CEO. TeO feels that HR departments have an immense role to play in employing the right talent to fill vacancies, "Coupled with meeting Omanisation targets, HR has to ensure the right people fill up organization vacancies, keeping in line with the company's manpower plan while pleasing all stakeholders and staying within budget" remarks Mr. Gurkan Ozturk, CEO, TeO.

At the forefront of the MHD LLC's Omanisation Programme is the 'Induction Programme' designed solely and specifically for Omani nationals. MHD feels that while Omanisation is good for the development of the country, quality training programmes aimed at improving the skills capacity of Omanis is mandatory. "As part of the programme, trainees spend quality time with qualified instructors who ensure their successful integration into MHD's workforce. Communication, information technology, finance, administration, selling skills and languages are just a few examples of the type of training received at the MHD Training Centre during the Induction period" states Mr. Maher Al Obaid Al Awad, General Manager, MHD LLC.

Scope at OCF

Ooredoo aims to attract more qualified nationals who will help the business to achieve its goals at OCF "Careers fairs like OCF are also a recruitment channel that presents several potential benefits to the companies that attend them. There is also the added benefit of these fairs to meet people face to face and connect with the youth" says Ms. Salma Al-Harthy, Department Head - People Resourcing, Ooredoo.

TeO seeks fresh ambitious graduates in several technical and non-technical positions who would like to grow with their new company. At OCF, MHD LLC aims to attract quality professionals to meet their employment requirements.
