MUSCAT -- Jamie Bowden, British Ambassador to the Sultanate, hosted yesterday a pre-visit briefing and networking reception at his residence for a group of 25 companies and 40 delegates who will shortly be travelling to the UK to attend an Energy Industries Council (EIC) and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) led Business Summit in Manchester (May 28-29).
The Summit is supported by the Shell Group and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). PDO is the major exploration and production company in the Sultanate, accounting for more than 70 per cent of the country's crude oil production and nearly all of its natural gas supply.
The two-day event aims to promote the current oil and gas activities in Oman with a specific focus on Shell's requirements from their supply chain.
In addition, Mark Crane, EVP Middle East and North Africa, Shell, will discuss their active projects in the region, including information on the products and services they are seeking to source from the UK. Graham Inett, Head of UKTI in Muscat will provide an overview of how to do business in the Sultanate.
A panel discussion will be chaired by Christopher MacDonald, In-Country Value Adviser, PDO and focus on supply chain challenges. The event will conclude with one- to-one meetings and networking opportunities. Oil and gas companies from Iraq will also participate providing local Omani companies with an opportunity to build upon its involvement in that market.
