Key focus on packaging integrated technology solutions
The Kingdom's powerhouse of packaging, Obeikan Investment Group (OIG), are to take the lead at the region's largest industry trade fair, Gulf Pack, set to take place on 2 - 5 April at Dubai Airport Expo.
Underlining the group's focus on exports Mr Abdullah Al Obeikan, CEO of OIG, said taking part at Gulf Pack is an important part of their strategy to support Obeikan's export drive. He said "export ratios vary for each company within the group from a low of 30% to as much as 90% of their production. As a whole, the group's penetration goes to well over 50 countries, from Europe, the USA, Russia, the Indian subcontinent to as far as China. These are on top of the markets where we long have a strong export turn-over like the Middle East, Africa, Pakistan."
Their main focus at Gulf Pack will be to showcase OIG companies who manufacture raw material and those involved in converting and printing. OIG offer just about every packaging solution possible, from PET bottles for water and carbonated drinks, through to packaging for dry foods, pharmaceuticals, detergents and dairy products. OIG are also a major player in paper and board production having their own duplex paper mill in Riyadh.
Obeikan's presence at Gulf Pack will concentrate on integrated technical innovations the group apply by offering turnkey packaging solutions. "These innovations could be in the form of product, process, technology or quality", said Mr Abdullah. "We will highlight the benefits and advantages that Obeikan Group uniquely offers our customers due to our highly integrated business and production processes, our so-called solution providing approach when it comes to printing, packaging and converting."
With one of the largest stands at the show covering well over 350sqm, Obeikan's presence will be easily recognized by the 8,000 or so trade visitors predicted to attend the event. The stand will feature specialists from OIG's packaging companies, all on hand to offer expert advice.
In addition to the trade fair, Gulf Pack will present a series of packaging seminars including presentations by internationally renowned Dr Dan Abramovicz. He concentrates on the importance of "Packaging's Role in Branding", covering a variety of important aspects. These include Key Drivers of brand-building packaging, Visual Appeal, Innovation, Convenience, Brand Protection, Sustainability, Speed to Market and Packaging in Emerging Markets. The sessions will have wide appeal to all those involved in designing and purchasing packaging solutions, from both commercial and technical applications.
The show also features the third student design awards covering packaging and graphic design. Dubbed the Pandas, entries are be drawn from a large number of universities covering a variety of packaging disciplines including soft drinks, perfume and promotional gift boxes.
