New drive to raise consumer awareness
By By SARAH ABDULLAH JEDDAH: The Saudi Consumer Protection Association (CPA) has announced the launch of a new awareness campaign to educate the Kingdom's consumers and increase dialogue with the aim of identifying and solving consumer problems. The campaign uses various types of technology and social media such as SMS, e-mail, Facebook and Twitter. The main strategy, according to the CPA, is to target consumers of all ages with the objective of nurturing a culture of consumer consciousness and positive consumer behavior.
"The CPA plans to send weekly updates to consumers to inform them of substandard or counterfeit products as well as other helpful tips. The information will also be sent to more than 10,000 e-mail addresses within the Kingdom in the hope of expanding and deepening the scope of social dialogue between consumers and the CPA in order to overcome many of the problems consumers face," Nasser Al-Tuwaim, CPA chairman, told Arab News.
