New 50 dirham banknote into circulation by end of July 2012

Sunday, Jul 22, 2012
The new note will have new security features
Abu Dhabi: The UAE Central Bank on Sunday announced that it would put into circulation an amended Dh50 currency note.
The Central Bank said in a circular that the new banknote will be reprinted with new security features through replacing the silver metallic thread on the front of the note with a broader colour shifting thread reading “UAE 50”.
The circular also reveals that the overall design and other specifications of the note will remain the same.
According to the circular, this amended currency note will be put in circulation as legal tender along with the currency notes currently in circulation with effect from July 30.
Therefore, the said note will be dispensed to banks in accordance with the Central Bank’s established procedures for cash withdrawal and deposit.
The new banknote will help avoid any counterfeiting attempts of the national currencies, a Central Bank official told the Gulf News.

On November 29, 2011, the Central Bank put into circulation an amended Dh500 currency note, reprinted with new security features.
