National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) conducted 72,673 meters of onshore and offshore drilling in the two first months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), said NIDC's deputy head for drilling operations.

According to a fax received by Iran Daily, Mehran Makvandi added that the drilling operations exceeded by 9,076 meters compared with projections for the same duration.

Some 26 wells were drilled during the period, of which 13 are development wells, one is appraisal and 12 are decrepit.

He added that of the wells, 16 were located in the operational territory of National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), one pertained to Iranian Central Oilfields Company (ICOC), two were located in the areas covered by Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) and seven were drilled in the framework of a production project.

In this period, he said, NIDC completed drilling operations of six wells 68 days ahead of schedule, which is highly valuable.

"Currently, NIDC owns 74 onshore and offshore drilling rigs," he said, pointing out that two rigs were added to the drilling fleet recently.

He listed NIDC's drilling rigs as light, heavy and ultra-heavy, which are operational in the provinces of Khuzestan, Ilam, Bushehr, Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad, Hormuzgan and Fars under the supervision of NISOC, IOOC, ICOC, Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, Pars Oil and Gas Company and Exploration Directorate of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
