Ahvaz, Khouzestan Prov. - Managing Director of National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) Heidar Bahmani says a total of 454,000 meters of oil and gas wells were drilled in the last Iranian calendar year of 1390 (March 21, 2011-March 20, 2012).

Bahmani said the figure will reach more than half a million meters by this year end on March 20, 2013.
He added that since March 21, marking start of the current Iranian calendar year of 1391, some 211,000 meters of oil and gas wells have been drilled.
He said within the period, 85 oil and gas wells were drilled.
He noted that his company plans to drill 200 wells by end of the year.
The NIDC has drilled 3,340 wells without involvement of foreigners of which 280 were offshore wells.
