Abu Dhabi, Feb. 28th, 2008 (WAM) - HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces today presided over the weekly meeting of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

During the meeting, the council members reviewed a memorandum by the Supervision Committee for the Expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport and approved its 2008 budget allocations. Also approved were a relevant memorandum by the Finance Department and requests for financial facilities.

The Council also Okayed a memorandum by the Department of Municipal on awarding contracts for the development of Al Salam Street and the Ring Road in Abu Dhabi. The project involves construction of a four-lane dual carriageway tunnel from Mina road to Al Salam-Al Falah intersection, as well as a tunnel linking Al Salam with the Corniche road.

The council sanctioned 2008 budget of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage (ADACH) and the financial allocations of the Abu Dhabi Media Company for 2008.

It also approved memorandums by the Projects Committee on tenders to develop and expand Al Ain-Dubai road and to develop Emirates National Schools at Al Tewaiya in Al Ain.
