As part of its development strategy and continuing efforts to connect the sultanate, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) has initiated several road projects in different wilayats and governorates.
To further this aim, the ministry has recently concluded construction of the 27km Hajeef-Jahnain-Aseer road project in Dhofar, according to a press release.
The project included the construction of service roads that run adjacent to the main road for 10km and construction of the 12km Hajeef-Kazmeem road. The new road is 7m wide and comprises two lanes, each of which is 3.5m wide and has asphalt shoulders on both sides each of which is 1.5m.
The project completed at the cost of RO8.1mn will facilitate traffic flow and is considered an alternative to the Hamreer Hill road, which witnesses frequent traffic congestion.
It will help those residing in mountainous areas and Aseer by connecting them to Hajeef. The statement added that the project was undertaken under the guidance of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
