Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Manchester Business School (MBS) is hosting the first residential workshop and study tour in Dubai by a group of 18 students on the new MBS Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) programme, launched in 2014. The group, which arrived on March 14th, comprises senior businesspeople including director and partner level professionals, of 11 nationalities and residing in 10 countries, including five in China. In addition to the study programme, MBS is showcasing Dubai and introducing the group to a range of high profile businesses and thought leaders in their fields.

The MBS study tour in Dubai goes beyond the purely academic with a range of extra-curricular experiences, known as GEMBA+, which comprises a range of additional experiences from high level networking to personal coaching to help students define goals, enhance interpersonal skills and build connections. With Dubai's emergence as a major global business hub, the visit will also highlight key sectors such as construction and real estate development and showcase the emirate's global competitiveness and rankings; the study tour will include orientations, briefings, and an industry site visit hosted by Dubai-based holding company, Meraas.

Speaking at a welcome reception in Dubai for the MBS GEMBA students, Dr Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director of the Education Cluster of TECOM Investments, said: "The inaugural MBS GEMBA workshop and study tour provides an exciting platform for academia to connect with industry not only here in the region, but also globally. The arrival of the international cohort of GEMBA students marks another milestone for MBS and presents a great opportunity to showcase Dubai's achievements to this group of influential senior businesspeople from all over the world."

The visiting students are being accompanied by four MBS faculty who will deliver the academic programme, including Managing and Leading People in Organisations; The Reflective Manager; Business Simulation; and Financial Management.

Randa Bessiso, Middle East Director of Manchester Business School, added: "GEMBA literally takes these senior businesspeople around the world on a journey of discovery about themselves, as prospective business leaders of the future. MBS delivers the programme across four of our regional centres - Dubai, Shanghai, Manchester and Miami - and provides specific insights in each of these business capitals, as well as networking opportunities with local business leaders. It's an innovative, highly personalised MBA experience and a very different learning and development journey. Ultimately, it is a career and life transforming experience."

The MBS part-time 20-month GEMBA programme is designed for very senior executives looking to move into the boardroom with the aid of a more personalised, intense and international MBA experience, working closely with the School's faculty across the MBS international network and offering leadership coaching and mentoring.

MBS Middle East Centre is the largest and fastest growing regional centre in the MBS international network, with over 1,800 part-time MBA students and an alumni community of 2,000 former students.
