Maliki's talk "grave mistake", Sadrist leader
NAJAF/ Aswat al-Iraq: Sadrist leader Muqtada al-Sadr described today the statements made by Premier Nouri al-Maliki on political partners as "grave mistake" due to its "threat" against them.
In a statement by his office, he stressed that "buying arms should not be for a military force".
The Sadrist leader advised Maliki "to be lenient in his talk with his partners".
Commenting on arming Iraqi forces, he added that "arming the Iraqi army is something imperative, but should be with conditions; namely that the arms should not be from a country occupying Iraq, obsolete and very expensive".
He stressed the importance of the "integrity of the deal".
"Buying arms should be for defending Iraq, not for electoral reasons", he confirmed.The Sadrist leader called for exposing the corruption dossiers and follow-up the work of the government and the implementation of the constitution.
