Customers were representatives from local business houses, multinational corporations, freight forwarders, logistics providers and traders from Oman.  Platinum Awards were presented to the top supporters of Maersk Line, namely Octal Petrochemicals, Al Khan Foodstuffs, Al Jebali Trading and Meridian Shipping & Trading Co.

This was followed by a number of Gold Awards given out to some of the other big Maersk Line customers, including Rasa Trading Co, Reliance Freight systems, Sohar Aluminium Co, Saud Bahwan Automotive, Oman Polypropylene, National Biscuits Industries Ltd, Fairtrade and Jazeera Tube Mills.

The evening continued onto an extravaganza of fun, live entertainment, music and dining on a fine array of the finest cuisine. Most importantly, it was an occasion for socialising. The evening was interspersed with spot prizes and special gifts for participants. In his address, Uggla, spoke about the 80 years of service provided by Maersk Line and gave a brief snap-shot of its history; from the start-up of a liner service in July, 1928, which transformed into a full-fledged container service by 1975. He thanked the customers for their support in helping to make the 80 years of successful service possible.

Uggla pointed out that Maersk Line has the widest network in the region. "With more volumes at profitable rate levels, we will see more allocation and more direct services, with better transit times", he said. He concluded by assuring the audience that with the new and strengthened organisation in place, their clients will see faster response times and improved service levels.
