MUSCAT -- Muscat Securities Market, MSM 30 index ended the week's trading sessions in negative territory on pressure from both the Financial and Services indices. The local bourse closed down by 0.21 per cent losing 13. 67 points at 6,364.16. A total of 1,286 trades were executed in yesterday's session generating a turnover of RO 6.26 million -- down by 2.08 per cent compared to the previous session -- with over 18 million shares changing hands. Market capitalisation stood at RO 12.9 billion, down by 0.20 per cent.

The Financial sector index closed down at 0.54 per cent, the Services sector index declined by 0.55 per cent, only the Industrial Sector Index bucked the downward trend and closed at 0.12 per cent. Out of 53 stocks traded, 13 advanced, 22 declined and 18 remained unchanged. Voltamp Energy was the top gainer for the day and closed at 257 per cent at RO 0.399 followed by Oman Cables Industry which increased by 1.6 per cent to close at RO 1.900.

Oman Holding International was the top loser for the day and closed down at 7.94 per cent at RO 0.429 followed by United Finance which declined by 4.38 per cent to close at RO 0.153. Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume trading over 3 million shares while Raysut Cement was the most active in terms of turnover registering over of RO 816,000 worth of shares.
