Lufthansa connects Jeddah to Europe
Mar 29, 2012 03:00A delegation from Lufthansa German Airlines, headed by its Vice President for the commercial hub in Munich Helmut Wolfel, celebrated the launch of a new Lufthansa service from Jeddah to Munich, at a reception hosted by German Consul General Rolf Theodor Shuster.
The delegation was accompanied by Lufthansa's executives based in Saudi Arabia -- sales director Stefan Loecherbach and Regional Manager Stefan Schwarz -- and also included German journalists from Munich.
The company already offers daily nonstop flights from Jeddah and Riyadh to Frankfurt and weekly 4 flights from Dammam to Frankfurt.
Shuster was particularly happy to welcome the delegation as this visit coincides with another very important event marking the history of Saudi-German relationships.
"A couple of days ago Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Guido Westerwelle announced on his trip to Riyadh his intention to simplify visa procedures establishing a visa section at the German Consulate in Jeddah before the end of this year. German consulate discontinued issuing visas from Jeddah 8 years ago.
Shuster, who also spoke earlier at the annual Lufthansa awards night in Jeddah, caught the occasion to remind visa applicants the importance of respecting current regulations concerning Schengen visas.
These regulations require applicants to obtain the visa from the country of their main destination or if that cannot be determined, for example because the trip is to several countries, to the country of first entry.
