Jeff Cassidy, of Global Aerospace and Chairman of the World Space Risk Forum 2012 Working Committee commented:
"We are delighted to announce the dates and host venue for the World Space Risk Forum 2012 - an event that will build upon the success of our 2010 forum. We will have double the number of delegates and, in The Ritz Carlton DIFC, we have an excellent venue located in Dubai's financial and insurance heart."
"These are exciting, but challenging times for the industry. The Space Shuttle might be retired but the next generation of innovative applications are quickly entering the market. At the same time, whilst the industry strives to improve its products and reliability, we are facing new, high profile, concerns regarding orbital debris and solar activity as well as financial new threats. The World Space Risk Forum 2012 will provide an ideal opportunity to help us address these issues."
The World Space Risk Forum is the main space risk forum in the world. The space industry is worth an estimated $170bn per year globally.
Whist the global space industry is expected to grow by 4.5% annually over the next 10 years, the Middle-East region, Asia and Africa is expected to grow by more than 10% a year. Furthermore, the region is investing heavily in high technology to become a significant player in the years to come. The space risk industry is facilitating this development by providing clients with solutions for covering their assets, revenues and liabilities to third parties.
