Fujairah, Feb. 15, 2009 (WAM) -- Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort was recently awarded the best luxury hotel, in the long-haul category, by customers of German company LTUR, the market leader in last minute travel.

LTUR has served more than eight million guests since 1987 and works with more than 10,000 hotel partners. The award, named the "LTUR Palm Tree", is based on customers recommendations. It was awarded on 24 January at the Reisemarkt, a travel fair in Baden-Baden organized by LTUR.

The award adds to the industry accolades Le Meridien Al Aqah has received since it opened in 2002, including the gold award in the Best Leisure Hotel category, and the silver award in the Best Price Value Hotel category at the MENA Travel Awards 2008; Holiday Check Award, 2007; the Middle East Leading Beach Resort by World Travel Awards, the Nickermann Primo and the TUI HOLLY all awarded in 2006.

"The award reflects the care we give to our guests to ensure they have a memorable stay," said Patrick Antaki, General Manager, Le Meridien Al Aqah.

"With a large percentage of our guests arriving from Germany, the recognition from LTUR will open the door to increased tourist arrivals from Germany and the European countries on the LTUR network," added Antaki.
