BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--National Bank of Kuwait (NBK.KW) said on Tuesday that it has signed a contract to finance the 98 million Kuwaiti dinars ($342.1 million) expansion project of the local Al Amiri Hospital.

The Gulf state's biggest lender said in a statement that the contract was signed with a consortium that will implement the project for the country's health ministry.

The consortium is led by Kuwait's Associated Construction Co. and includes Italy-based Impresa Pizzarotti & C.S.p.A. and Kuwait's Al Essa Medical Equipment Co., it added.

"The Al Amiri Hospital Expansion project comprises the construction, maintenance and provision of medical equipment for a new tower at the hospital doubling the existing capacity by adding additional 460 beds and a multi-storey parking block," the statement said.
