KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: The Execution Department at the Ministry of Justice was supposed to transfer to the newly-constructed Saud Sahood Complex but it has been found to be structurally weak and unable to handle heavy weight, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the ministry has signed an agreement with the developer of the complex to rent it for KD 920,000 a year.

Sources confirmed the rent contract was cancelled immediately after discovering the structure is weak. Sources revealed when the department was about to transfer its safe, which weighs 2.5 tons, the company in charge of the moving operations said the test results showed the building is weak and it cannot handle heavy weight.

Sources confirmed the company has asked a testing firm to look into the building but the latter allegedly refused to present an official report. This has prompted the company to seek the assistance of Kuwait University, which sent a team of technical experts to investigate and they reached the same conclusion.

Sources disclosed the State Properties Department is trying to conceal the termination of the contract and it has not taken the necessary procedures to protect the rights of the ministry. Sources said the department tried to convince the ministry to rent the property for one year and transfer to another building later without taking into consideration the risks and additional costs involved.

Sources confirmed the ministry has outrightly rejected the suggestion and went ahead with the cancellation of the rent contract. Sources added the ministry is planning to sue the company in charge of renting the building for failure to comply with the stipulations of the contract.
