AMMAN (JT) - His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday honoured key figures from the public and private sectors for their efforts in serving the local community and enhancing the country's development process.
Those honoured received medals of various types and orders at a ceremony held at the Royal Court on the occasion of the King's birthday.
They included distinguished bankers, academicians, diplomats, women activists, companies that contributed to the development of the local community, research centres and other figures excelling in the fields of business, agriculture and art among others.
One of the honoured was Khalid Suleiman Meri Otoun on whom the Monarch bestowed Al Istiqlal Medal of the Third Order for his distinguished efforts in the field of agriculture.
Otoun uses advanced planting techniques at his farm in Al Mudawara area in the south of the Kingdom in cooperation with the University of New Mexico in the US and is currently experimenting with organic crops in cooperation with the Jordan River Foundation.
Present at the honouring ceremony at Raghadan Palace were HRH Prince Feisal, HRH Prince Raad and Prime Minister Nader Dahabi along with several senior officials.List of honourees
