US law firm King & Spalding continues to expand its Middle East practice with the addition of five lawyers, all of whom will be involved in the firm's Islamic finance business according to Isam Salah, head of the firm's Islamic finance practice.

However, some of the new Islamic finance team will bring experience in offshore destinations in the Caribbean. Phillip Sacks, one of the new lawyers, joins K&S from offshore specialists Walkers, for whom he worked in the Cayman and the British Virgin Islands.

Salah said Sacks would: "be taking a leading role in our investment funds practice, including Shari'ah compliant investment funds."
