Abu Dhabi, July 26, 2011: Khalifa University recently launched the newly accredited Masters in International and Civil Security. The Master's program will equip students with the necessary skills to be leaders in the security field and will allow them to address the security needs of the UAE, as well as enabling them to understand the integrated and complex world of the 21st century.
The Master's program will fall under the newly founded Institute of International and Civil Security at Khalifa University. This new institute aims to produce research which will strengthen the security of the UAE in a way that is responsive to the needs of national and global security decision-makers. Beyond that, the goal is to produce research that competes at a global level in originality and importance, enabling the program to make major contributions that enhance regional, international, and human security.
Commenting on the new Master's program, Dr. Mohammed Al-Mualla, Interim Provost of Khalifa University, said, "This unique program will equip our students with the necessary skills to have influence in shaping the future security environment both here in the UAE and indeed, around the world. Our new program will provide students, whether they are current or future security professionals, with the kind of sophisticated knowledge which will help them develop to advance their careers in their respective fields."
Student Fatima Al Foulathi said, "The Masters in International and Civil security is a multi-faceted postgraduate program which has allowed me to become exposed to the current state of both national and global security; a subject which is of vital importance in the future development of the UAE. It has offered me a chance to study in a new subject area as well as giving me a chance to meet with world security leaders and academics who have visited the University regularly as part of this program and also as part of the Khalifa University Distinguished Lecturers Series. I am looking forward to the vast opportunities ahead of me once I complete my studies at the University."
