Jordan Telecom Group's subscriber base increased by 3.8% reaching 4.2 million subscribers at the end of March 2013 compared to 4.0 million subscribers at year end 2012. This increase is linked to our competitive prepaid mobile offers in addition to the continued demand on ADSL offers.

The Group revenue dropped by 1.7% in first quarter for 2013 compared with the same period last year. This drop is linked to the high competition in the market affecting both mass and business sectors, partially compensated by the increase in wholesale revenues.

Despite the Group's continued efforts for cost optimization, Jordan Telecom Group's operating expenses before depreciation and amortization witnessed an increase by 9.5% to reach JD 63.8 million as end of March 2013 against JD 58.3 million as end of March 2012.

This increase is mainly due to an extra electricity cost of JD 2.2 million related to the government decision to increase telecom electricity charges by more than 150%, in addition to the increase in the international terminations costs linked to the increase in wholesale revenues.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization for the group decreased by 18.5 %, to reach JD 31.0 million as end of March 2013, as a result of the increase in the operating expenses.

EBITDA margin decreased by 6.8 points to reach 32.7% in Q1 2013 compared with 39.5% in Q1 2012.

Jordan Telecom Group generated JD 15.9 million net profit after tax at end of March 2013 with a decrease by 20.8% compared to last period, this decrease is linked mainly to the drop in our gross operating income.

Capital Expenditures (CAPEX):

CAPEX for Jordan telecom group reached JD 6.3 million at the end of March 2013 compared to JD 2.3 million at the end of March 2012.
