JAZAN: Minster of Higher Education Khaled Al-Anqari signed recently a contract to build an electric station at Jazan University's new campus.
He also signed other contracts for new universities in the Kingdom that will cost a total of SR470 million.
Mohammad Al-Hayazie, president of Jazan University, thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Al-Anqari for contributing to the sustainable development of the university's projects.
The huge project is expected to continue the development of the new campus' infrastructure, which is located on the Red Sea coastline and covers 9 million square meters.
The first phase of the new campus projects cost over SR3 billion and included colleges, students dormitory, housing for academic staff, an administration building, playgrounds and a university hospital with 800 beds.
It also includes plans to build an international tourist hotel within the campus that contains about 250 rooms and suites.
The Jazan University project will contain some of the most beautiful scenery and landmarks in the Kingdom.
The industrial lake inside the campus will be surrounded by buildings. The contracted company will ensure the campus meets international environmental standards.
Students began using the new campus in 2010.
