Italian architects see potential in Lebanon’s real estate
13 July 2011
BEIRUT: Renowned Italian architects said Lebanon is the right place to implement real estate projects thanks to the property boom which the country has seen over the past few years.
Massimo Iosa Ghini, Simone Micheli and Giampiero Peia, all internationally known Italian architects, told participants in a one-day seminar and workshop at Four Seasons Hotel that Lebanon is the right place to be at the moment.
The event, organized by the Italian Embassy’s commercial office in Beirut, has brought together 17 professionals from Italy to exchange expertise with local counterparts.
The morning session focused on defining the key initiatives that have been taking place in the past few months with the aim of developing solid foundations for future collaboration between Lebanon and Italy.
Launched in September 2010, the virtual portal offers two mainstream features, such as the possibility of promoting Italian companies to the audience through profiles and dedicated webpages, as well as the chance to offer job opportunities in either direct employment or collaboration.
At present, a total of 114 Italian companies are advertised and 429 projects are being promoted, as well as 348 business opportunities.
The afternoon session was dedicated to business-to-business workshops with 140 participants from the Lebanese contracting market and the Italian guests and a total of 260 meetings scheduled throughout the event.
“We aim to bring direct opportunities to the Lebanese market, we don’t want to offer the product or the service alone, we are promoting the style, the continuous and total process,” explained Alessandra Rainaldi, representative of the Italian Trade Commission from Rome, who added “the country has 300 open projects.
Italian Trade Commission data shows that Italy is Lebanon’s first European partner, third in the world only to China and the United States, with a total of $1.390 billion in exports. “These numbers are proof of the potential in investment that exists between the two countries, hopefully very soon we will be able to see a little bit of Italy in every new house in Lebanon,” Federico said.
