BAGHDAD: Iraq intends to build 2.5 million housing units in different Iraqi provinces with a total cost of $25 billion, in addition to another project links Iraqi ports with Turkey, Syria and Jordan with $8 billion, Iraqi housing minister said on Saturday.

"We are trying with the World Bank to help us in building the housing units," the minister told United Press International after participating in the 4th executive office of the 3rd housing ministers in Asia and Indian Ocean, which wrapped up yesterday.

"The southern provinces need these units but we plan to cover all Iraqi provinces," he added.
