The Iraqi Oil Ministry has removed Fayadh al-Naama from his post as head of the country's South Oil Co. and replaced him with Dhiaa Jaafar, head of production operations, Iraqi oil industry sources said Thursday.

The appointment of Jaafar, like Naama a member of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's Dawa party, marks the company's fourth leader in a year.

Iraqi oil officials couldn't immediately be reached for confirmation.

Naama came under government investigation after he signed a memo calling on the government to scrap the first oil bidding round before it was launched June 30, a move which angered both the prime minister and Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahristani.
