Head of Iran's Economic and Technical Investment and Assistance Organization Behrooz Alishiri here on Monday denied alleged reports that Iranian lands were rented to Qatari citizens.

Speaking to reporters, Alishiri said no Iranian land has been given to citizens of Qatar.

He made the remark commenting on several reports published last week by some media that Iran through its Ministry of Economy and Finance had managed to rent parts of its lands to citizens of Qatar.

The report has confused foreign investors, Alishiri said.

However, the official explained that Iran's ambassador to Qatar had recently proposed participation of Qatari investors in Iran's agricultural sector since Qatari officials were making investments in agricultural sectors of other countries to meet their agricultural needs.

Alishiri stressed that all countries could call for economic cooperation with Iran which would be examined by related bodies.

"Under present circumstance, Iran can not render any of its lands or buildings to foreigners," the official stressed, reiterating that the Ministry of Economy and Finance is take carer of the country's national interests.
