With the inauguration of a project to increase the capacity and improve the quality of oil products in Lavan Refinery, Hormuzgan province, gasoline production will increase by 3 million liters per day.

Currently, all processing units are ready for launch, Fars News Agency reported.

The refinery has the capacity to produce 1.5 million liters of Euro-5 gasoline per day. With the launch of the project, Euro-4 and Euro-5 production capacity of Lavan Refinery will amount to 3 million liters per day.

Currently, the refinery also produces 3.2 million liters of 8,000 parts per million (ppm) of sulfur in diesel per day, which is expected to reach 1.7 million liters of 50 ppm of sulfur in diesel per day by the end of the current Iranian year (started March 21).

By increasing sulfur production from diesel by up to 30 tons per day, sulfur exports will increase.

Implementation of this project will also reduce furnace oil production by 50 percent and production of high quality products will grow.

It is expected that by launching new units, Lavan Refinery's interest in selling each crude barrel will reach $1.8.

The report said 650 billion rials were invested in the project, of which 30 were funded by the National Oil Refinery and Distribution Company, 60 percent pertained to bank loans and 10 percent ($100 million) to the National Development Fund.

Currently, Iran produces more than 66 million liters of gasoline per day. With the inauguration of four new projects by the yearend, the figure is expected to exceed 70 million liters per day.
