Three projects of Azad, Seimareh and Roodbar went on stream in Lorestan province following the launch of Siahbisheh pump storage facilities, said an advisor of energy minister.

Mohammad Reza Rezazadeh added that the country boasts of a 7,000-megawatt capacity in new pump storage power plants.

"Currently, the capacity of hydroelectric power plants has crossed 10,000 megawatts," he said.

He called Siahbisheh dam and power plant as one of the complex projects in terms of technical and specialized affairs.

Rezazadeh said the projects became operational in light of the creativity and restless efforts of Iranian companies, university professors and students.

"Economic transparency in projects is an important issue, because pump storage power plants are established for generating electricity during the peak hours," he said.

"Therefore, the price of generated electricity should be different." Rezazadeh said earlier that the government plans to find 400 potential locations for launching small, medium, and micro power plants. He added that the government will conduct feasibility studies while the private sector would invest in the projects.
