International tender for Algiers-Abuja fiber optic project within two weeks
By Eman Kamush The Algerian ministry of posts, information and communications technology will offer the USD 62 million Algiers-Abuja fiber optic link project for tendering by global companies within two weeks, a senior official told Zawya.The project involves laying optical fiber to connect the capital cities of Algeria and Nigeria, a distance of 4,500 kilometers, of which 2,700km lies in Algeria. The ministry has completed technical and engineering studies for the project, Gamal Boda, a manager in the of communications department, said.
The international tender for the supply of equipment and installation of optical fiber will be issued before June 20, Boda said. The project is expected to take 18 months to complete, he said.
