e-based arbitration at 10th festival
Innovation awards for acting, direction and scriptwriting would be presented during the 10th Gulf Radio and Television Festival.
Twenty-one mediapersons will be honoured for contribution to the field.
Another new feature is e-based arbitration in cooperation with the uae instead of the usual judges' panels.
The encouragement of creativity in the radio and television field is a fruitful aspect of the gcc cooperation, Bahrain Radio and Television Corporation acting chief executive Hasan Abdulkareem said as the festival began yesterday.
This cooperation reinforces unity between the gcc peoples, enables them to express aspirations, contribute to the creation of a common culture and increase awareness about ways to confront challenges," Abdulkareem said.
Abdulkareem said Bahrain always supported gcc cooperation in the field by hosting the biennial festival and ensuring its success. The brtc has enhanced cooperation and coordination with counterparts in the other gcc states to ensure the success of this year's festival and preserve its regional and international reputation.
Abdulkareem said the festival was a platform for gcc and Arab artists and would witness the introduction of more advanced technologies in the future.
Gulf Radio and Television Organisation director general Dr. Abdullah Aburas said the number of festival activities this year had gone up to 202, up 61 per cent compared with last year's 132. The number of pavilions has also gone up from 31 last year to 45 this year.
The festival is in line with the development in the media sector in the Gulf, he said, adding that since its inception in Kuwait, the event has boosted mediapersons' efforts and innovations.
