Dushanbe - The 38th meeting of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) General Assembly by approving 16 plans in the framework of 31 approvals and signing five Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) wrapped up here on Wednesday.

The plans and MoU were signed between IDB and its bodies with countries like; Tajikistan, Chad, Sudan, Senegal, Sierra Leon, Mozambique, Zambia, Guinea, Afghanistan, Uganda and Kosovo in the fields of transportation, health, education and foodstuffs.

Also increasing bank capital from 30 billion Islamic Dinars to 100 billion Dinars was accepted by more than 50 members of the bank.

Giving facilities to execute water, energy transfer plans and road construction between Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan was among approvals after receiving feasibility studies and submitting primary stage plan to the bank.

Allocating 2 percent of bank net income to scholarship for pupils of member states was another approval of the meeting.

The participants also approved two enactments concerning admitting Export Development Bank as member of board of directors of International Islamic Company and cooperation of member states with Iranˈs National Development Fund on implementation of construction plans.

At the 38th meeting of the IDB executive directors, which was held from Saturday until Wednesday in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan, 56 member states and 68 international and regional organizations attended.

Minister of Economy and Finance Shamseddin Hosseini heading a senior delegation attended the meeting.

The participants agreed that the next meeting be held in Saudi Arabia next year.

IDB President Ahmad Mohammad Ali, in a press conference, said that the bank will pay more attention to cooperation with Central Asian countries, which were under dominance of communist system for 74 years.

Islamic Development Bank was founded in December 1973 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and started its activities in 1975.

Capital of the bank was paid by founder countries of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Libya, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan.
