Muscat | May 20, 2013: Haya Water has reaffirmed its dedication towards improving surface water resources and protecting ground water resources from contamination by participating in Oman Power and Water Summit, which was held in Al-Bustan Palace during 5-7 May.
Highlighting the significance of participating in such events, Eng. Hussain Abdul Hussain, CEO of Haya Water said, "The Summit is known to be the Sultanate's key event for reviewing and evaluating Oman's power and water infrastructure development strategies and projects. As one of the major players in the water industry in Oman, it was not only an opportunity for us to connect with key industry Stakeholders and provide them with informative updates on Haya Water's varied projects but also an ideal avenue to share learnings and best practices."
More than 7 delegates participated in the event, which focused on energy generated from sustainable sources. The Summit also discussed the annual demand for power and water which is expected to increase in the coming years. Oman has pledged to ensure an estimated 10% of the country's energy is generated from sustainable sources by 2020. One of the drivers towards sustainability is reflected in expansion of treated sewage effluent water facilities. Haya Water also presented a paper on its Master Plan, future Projects, ongoing Projects, Strategy on TE utilization and on the Integrated Services Approach.
Haya Water's vision is to enable Muscat to become one of the top cities in the world by building and operating a world class water reuse system that connects at least 80 per cent of the residential and commercial properties by the year 2018 and brings enormous environmental benefits to the Muscat Governorate area.

The size and scale of Haya Water's projects in Muscat has also led to the creation of significant numbers of indirect jobs and opportunities through its appointment of lead contractors and sub contractors to implement construction work.
