Gulf investors eye tourism project in Tunisia worth USD308m

By Fedia Sendesni The Tunisian government is studying bids from investors from Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia for a tourism project in Hergla, valued at USD 308 million, a senior official told Zawya.

The project, planned over 450 hectares with hotels, restaurants, housing units and parks, will be located in the little-known village of Hergla, off the Gulf of Hammamet in north-eastern Tunisia, said Youssif Bou Halal of the Directorate General for Productive Sectors at the Tunisian Ministry of Regional Development and Planning.

Hergla is being promoted by the Tunisian government as a global destination for tourism as well as the ownership of "second homes". It is close to the resort destination of Hammamet.
