According to Frost & Sullivan, the increase in telecom revenue in Oman can be attributed to the promotional campaigns and product plans offered by both Omantel and Nawras. Frost & Sullivan believes that good marketing and promotional strategies will be the key pre-requisite to the success of telecom players in Oman, especially with Samatel getting ready to launch its services with its Next Generation Network (NGN) as the third telecom operator.
In a market with increasing competition, service providers need to compete on factors, more than just price. This is where interesting product bundling, service pairing and mobile application provision come to the fore. Finally, with the Batinah region soon to be serviced by Omantel as a part of the Universal Service Obligation (USO), the possibility of a greater subscriber base opens up since this is a risk free way for other operators to assess the area and uptake the telecom services.
