Riyadh -- The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) is one of the great investors at the local market.
Its investments include banks, industry and telecommunications sectors as well as cement companies in addition to participation in a number of companies of health sector.
For the time being it invests in 62 local companies with a purchase cost which amounts to SR 46 billion.
GOSI's annual report said beneficiaries who receive monthly salaries amounted last year (2009) to more than 240,000 with monthly salaries that exceed SR 621 million.
The accumulated amount spent by GOSI on beneficiaries exceeded SR 61.3 billion while the number of joint firms in line with the insurance system amounted to more than 218,000.
The number of persons included in the social insurance system from the governmental sector amounted to more than 577600, while the number exceeds 12.5 million subscribers from the private sector.
This will make the number of the total subscribers more than 13 million.
The report pointed out that the total amount spent by GOSI on pensions branch up to the end of last year amounted to SR 56 billion. About two million persons benefited from this.
Last year, about SR Seven billion were paid to the pensions branch and about 243,000 persons benefited from that.
